With a bachelor's degree in health science and a minor in biology, Lauryn is a fresh out of college athletic trainer specifically in softball wellness. She was a 4x first team all conference player, freshman of the year in 2018, nationally ranked freshman of 2018, and the NCAA-DII current title holder in RBI performance in a single game and tied for first of the single-game high across all NCAA levels in 2021. These are just a handful of accolades from her.
She has 15 years of experience in the softball world while playing for top-tier teams such as Starz Gold, Richmond Diamonds, Lady Titans, Dixie Chicks, and Virginia Edge. Lauryn had also been invited to play overseas 2x in 2018 and 2019.
Lauryn is dedicated to training individuals who are looking to increase their talent and further their careers in the softball industry. Along with individuals who are looking to further their wellness in weight loss and/or developing muscle mass.
Experienced in sports wellness, she has a range of athletic knowledge to help athletes with their needs. She is an energetic and passionate former athlete excited to pass on successful knowledge of both athletic and general training wellness.
Hello, this is Maurice Thorne but I go by Rece. I'm from Hopewell, Va. I was a 3 sport athlete in high school at Hopewell High. I attended school at North Carolina Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount, NC as a defensive back. I currently play Arena football with the Richmond Roughriders. I've played Arena football going on for 7 years and as of 2017 we, Richmond Roughriders, won the Arena Pro Football (APF) championship going undefeated where I also played defensive back. Football has also been my #1 and I strive to the best every time I play or even train. Always a champ's mind state! I am excited to have the opportunity to train with the future DefyGENETICS athletes of the NFL, NBA, MLB, or wherever their journey takes them. Rachel Sabine is a DefyG trainer that is excited to take on new clients. She graduated from Midlothian High School and is from the Richmond area. She is a soccer player. She has played for over 10 years, including two years in the East Coast national league. She has played all sports ranging from volleyball, tennis, soccer, track, and softball. She knows what it takes to make an elite athlete. Rachel knows how to help you grow and get better in the sport you're in because she has first-hand experience and knowledge of the many sports she has played. Rachel can help you achieve your fitness & health goals, regardless of what they are. Richard Wojno received his undergraduate B.S. degree in Health & Exercise Science, with a minor in Coaching, and a concentration in Nutrition from Bridgewater College. He has received his personal training certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and is also CPR/AED certified. Richard is a former dual-sport college athlete participating in Bridgewater’s football and track & field programs. He received All-Conference accolades in both football and track & field, while also winning 2 conference championships with Bridgewater’s track & field program. Richard brings a wide range of knowledge in the fields of health & fitness, sports performance, and physical therapy throughout his athletic career and in the workforce. He has worked with people/athletes across all age groups. Richard is passionate about building a healthy lifestyle and helping others meet their fitness goals through safe, pain-free functional strength training.
This DefyG trainer is Dominique Houston. Dominique is originally from California. He attended high school in California. From there, Dominique went to attend college at Norfolk State. Dominique played college football at Norfolk State. He received his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, with a focus on Health and Fitness. Dominique also received his personal training certificate through Ace. He is also First Aid/Cpr certified. Dominique is very passionate about fitness and loves helping his clients reach their personal fitness goals. He always pushes for people to be the best they can be. He is excited to help new clients meet any goal they wish to meet.

Mike Thompson is a Norfolk, Va native who earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science at Virginia Commonwealth University. There he earned a certification through the ACSM. He works and volunteers in multiple Physical/Occupational Therapy clinics. This allowed Mike to work with a wide range of individuals including those with physical, cognitive, and behavioral disabilities. In high school, Mike was a track runner and football player. He has a wide range of knowledge about both of these sports. Through these experiences, Mike is able to provide first-hand knowledge and skills that will help others in achieving their athletic goals. His life experiences taught him the importance of believing in one’s self. He focused his training around conquering physical goals as well as overcoming mental obstacles that hinder those goals.

Randy Saunders has always had a passion for fitness, sports, and a never-ending quest in learning as much as possible about the amazing potential inside of the human body and mind. Also, Randy finds great satisfaction in helping others through training, educating, mentoring coaching, etc.
Randy grew up playing and enjoying many competitive sports. Among his personal accomplishments as a youngster were; playing shortstop for the Hopewell All-Stars in the Nationally Recognized Colonial Heights Boy’s Invitational Baseball (BIB)Tournament; Prince George High School Golf Team Most Valuable Player (MVP) for three years; twice qualified for the Virginia High School State Golf Tournament; First Place in the Shenandoah Drug-Free Powerlifting Championships in the 198 lb. class.
Randy received his B.S in Sports Management/Kinesiology from James Madison University. He is certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). He received his Golf Fitness Instructor Level I Certification through the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) in San Diego, CA.
Randy specializes and excels in training athletes who have a desire to reach their maximum potential in golf, baseball, basketball, powerlifting, and Olympic lifting. Also, he loves training any athlete for any sport who has the desire to be the best that they can be. Randy’s philosophy focuses on motivational workouts where short-term and intermediate goals/metrics are set and frequently tested to measure progress. He encompasses all aspects specialized for each particular sport- strength, power, speed, mobility, stability, and flexibility along with a positive, winning mental approach. In addition, Randy enjoys training any individual who wants to become more healthy and fit, stronger, and improve mobility, stability and flexibility.
Randy also has a tremendous passion for coaching Youth Sports. He has had the privilege of coaching, leading, inspiring, and mentoring Colonial Heights Youth Teams from U-8 through U-15 in baseball, basketball, and football. He led several of his teams to Championships: Baseball (U-12), Football (U-11), and Basketball (U-15). His amazing leadership qualities, infectious positive attitude and nature, and boundless energy have inspired many of his young athletes to accomplish great things in not only sports but also life in general.

While serving in the US Army for 10 years, Roger was a 9-time US Army Physical Fitness Excellence Award Recipient and a US Army Special Populations Fitness Instructor. This time also offered him the opportunity to coach high school football in Korea and to play football at the semi-professional and professional levels in Germany. After returning back to the States, Roger took a position as the offensive coordinator for the semi-professional football team, the Virginia Hornets, who led the league in rushing yardage and was #3 in total offense.
Roger’s life-long passion for health, sports and fitness along with an incredible burning desire to help others to achieve their sports and fitness goals led him to found and create DefyGENETICS. Roger has well over 10,000 hours of personal training and sports performance experience which he brings to the DefyGENETICS team as the President, Lead Trainer and Sports Performance Coach. Roger works tirelessly on and in continuing education programs in order to keep abreast of the most recent World-Class training methods needed in order to improve explosive power, muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance, athletic performance, speed enhancement, agility, core, flexibility, balance, explosiveness and functional training. He is currently working to complete a B.S. degree in Sports & Health Science, Exercise Science from American Military University. Roger attends educational venues such as the West Virginia University Strength and Conditioning Coaches Clinic, annually.
Program development is key to any personal or sports performance training regimen. Roger applies the principles of exercise science, human anatomy, and biomechanics to movement design and exercise instruction in order to develop many programs and training regiments offered at DefyGENETICS Sports Performance & Training Facility. Over many years of research and development, Roger has created and implements his proven DefyGENETICS training methods which is utilized with every training and event that DefyGENETICS hosts or participates.
Roger has been a personal trainer, working out of the Colonial Heights gym of American Family Fitness, during 2002 – 2011; founded DefyGENETICS, LLC in 2011. He has had the privilege to mentor, mold and develop a vast array of clients and athletes on all levels, from the elite athlete (professional baseball player, many NCAA Div 1 athletes, professional football players, countless youth and aspiring high school athletes) to those regaining their active life from one of inactivity, and even obesity, to an adult rehabilitating from joint replacement. Roger is extremely experienced, knowledgeable, passionate, intense and energetic.
Roger has been a competitive body builder and annually enjoys coaching youth football and basketball. One of Roger’s several talents is the ability to provide influential mentorship to young inspiring athletes that ultimately develops the minds, bodies & spirits of each he has the privilege to train.

Kaleb Stevens is from Spokane, Washington. Multi-sport athlete as a youth and went to Prince George High School. He became a top track and field athlete throughout the state and nationally. With 3x All-American honors, 4-time all-state, 2nd place team placement. He received an opportunity to get a scholarship to the Indiana Tech University Of Technology, majoring in Cybersecurity. The powerhouse of NAIA track and field. Kaleb spent a couple of years there and joined the great United States Navy. While in the military, he accomplished the academic scholar award and also served a big role in Shock Trails on the USS Gerald R Ford.
Recently, he has come back to tri-cities and is in full swing with DEFYGENETICS, where it all started for him. Also, he is an Assistant Track Coach for Prince George Track Team and Cross Country.
